Speech Evaluation-Home
Service Description
For this evaluation, the therapy bus will come to your residence. A speech therapy evaluation is the first step in understanding your child’s communication skills and how to best support their growth. It’s a friendly, child-centered process designed to feel comfortable and engaging—not like a test. During the evaluation, a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) will spend time getting to know your child through play, conversation, and simple activities. They’ll also talk with you about your child’s development, medical history, and any concerns you’ve noticed at home or school. The evaluation may look at several areas, including: Speech sounds (how clearly your child pronounces words) Understanding language (following directions, understanding questions) Expressing ideas (using words, sentences, and vocabulary) Social communication (interacting with others, eye contact, turn-taking) Fluency (smoothness of speech, such as stuttering) Voice quality (pitch, volume, and clarity) Every evaluation is tailored to your child’s age and needs. For younger children, this often involves play-based activities, while older children may complete more structured tasks. After the evaluation, the SLP will review the results with you in clear, easy-to-understand language. You’ll learn: Whether your child’s skills are developing as expected If speech therapy is recommended What goals would be helpful for your child Next steps and available support options Our goal is to make the process supportive, informative, and reassuring—so you leave with a clear understanding of your child’s communication strengths and how to help them succeed.
